Awhen it hits theaters Wednesday, November 6 Three Friends, the new film by Emmanuel Mouret, Arte.tv offers a cycle dedicated to the director of feelings, master in the Art of vaudeville and marivaudage. Between Rohmer and Woody Allen, his comedies or more serious films examine all the intermittent moments of the heart. The five feature films and the medium-length film available on Arte.tv paint the portrait of a singular filmmaker.

A modest schoolteacher is torn between two women, one, young and whimsical, and the other, a sublime actress whom he has always admired. Emmanuel Mouret takes on the costume of his clumsy hero who jokes with love in spite of himself.

During a flirtation with no outcome, a man and a woman recount their thwarted love affairs. The filmmaker plays wonderfully with this poetry of missed appointments. Without ever judging.

Failed melo: “Another life”

Against the backdrop of the seaside, Jasmine Trinca, restyled as Ingrid Bergman from the 1940s, discovers passion with a passing man, JoeyStarr, and confronts her partner, Virginie Ledoyen. A melodramatic suspense where the influences of Hitchcock, Truffaut and Sirk, among others, can be seen.
