Les Arts Renaissants open their musical season, Tuesday, November 12, with The Curious Bards and mezzo-soprano Ilektra Platiopoulou, at the Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines auditorium.

Specializing in popular music from the Baroque era, The Curious Bards brings together six lovers of the Gaelic and Celtic world. Going from an 18th century Irish jig to a wild Scottish tune, you just have to let yourself be carried away in the whirlwind of the dance.

Tuesday, the program will include traditional tunes from Ireland and Scotland (songs, reels, strathspeys, slip-jigs, hornpipes, etc.). “Our first objective is to bring back to light an entire field of music that is now forgotten: 18th century music, known as traditional, with Celtic, Gaelic and Scandinavian influences,” explains Alix Boivert, baroque violinist who also directs. Alongside him, the ensemble is composed of Sarah Van Oudenhove, viola da gamba; Jean-Christophe Morel, Irish cittern; Louis Capeille, triple harp; Bruno Harlé, flutes. They welcome mezzo-soprano Ilektra Platiopoulou. Very interested in the links between traditional and art music, she explores these relationships in the Greek repertoire of composers such as Theodorakis or Hadjidakis, and in ancient Gaelic music with The Curious Bards.

Tuesday, November 12 at 8 p.m., at the Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines auditorium (Place Saint-Pierre) in . Prices: €13 to €30. Such. 05 61 25 27 32. Online reservation on Festik. www.arts-renaissants.fr
