Halsey’s fifth album is ready and promises to be personal. The singer has indeed unveiled the first single, The Endpart of the profits of which will go to two associations, one which works for research against lupus and the other against leukemia and lymphoma, as relayed People.

Halsey also posted a carousel of photos on Instagram revealing the conditions in which she worked on her record. In a first video, we see her rubbing her legs, visibly in pain. “I feel like an old lady. I told myself that I gave myself two more years to be sick,” she says.

The next clip shows her infused and wearing a surgical mask. “Today is the first day of treatment,” she said.

For research against leukemia and lupus

The following images show her shaved head in the recording studio, but also in tears during various visits to the hospital where she is infused with a machine, as if for a blood transfusion. If she does not clearly say in her message what she is suffering from or if she has recovered from it, she is giving a clue.

“Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Long story short, I wrote an album. It starts with The Endalready available,” she wrote in her post, tagging two associations: the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In the lyrics of this first single, Halsey sings that “every two years now, a doctor says I’m sick. He pulls out a whole new bag of tricks, and then he applies it to me. At first it was my brain, then a skeleton that was suffering.” The singer, who uses feminine and gender-neutral pronouns, already suffers from endometriosis, a condition she has spoken about in the past. In 2022, she detailed the operation undergone to stem the effects of this disease which affects 10% of women of reproductive age.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease. Other stars have detailed their path through the condition, including Selena Gomez who underwent a kidney transplant several years ago. Leukemia and lymphoma are cancers affecting the blood and blood-forming tissues.
