A new building in the city center, located not far from number 4 rue Saint-Rome, has just been the subject of a municipal order prohibiting access, inhabiting and operating.
David Mensah, manager of the sneaker makeover and renovation boutique, Docteur Sneaker in Toulouse, had the unpleasant surprise of having to close his store. Part of the building which houses his business, located at number 41 rue des Changes, in the city center of Toulouse, is in fact the subject of an order prohibiting “access, living and ‘exploit”. It is located just at the corner of rue des Changes and rue Temponieres, not far from number 4 rue Saint-Rome which collapsed last March.
“The building is at risk of imminent collapse”
This security order was issued on Tuesday by the town hall. “We knew that several studies had been carried out on the facade but nothing more,” laments the trader. For the moment, no reopening date is planned, even if the City ensures that it is doing everything to reopen this brand as quickly as possible.
According to the municipal decree, “the building presents disorders which affect its solidity and stability”. It also indicates that “the section of the facade wall is separated from the rest of the structure. The said building presents a risk of imminent collapse and therefore a danger for users.” No accommodation in this two-story building is occupied. Only the ground floor is accessible by the Docteur Sneakers store.
“We are worried, assure David and his associates. Even if we can continue our sneaker makeover activity. The customer just needs to contact us to carry out this work. We come to his home, we do the makeover and we ensure delivery,” he assures.
Two weeks ago, the Pink City still counted 33 buildings subject to a ban on access and habitation. Here is an additional one, in the hyper center district which already has several weakened buildings or those with cracks that are often worrying for those who live there or have a business there. Especially after the collapse last spring, which fortunately did not cause any casualties.
