They met at an exhibition. And they both promised to exhibit. Jacky Roger, former schoolmaster in Ceton, Theil-sur-Huisne and Longny-au-Perche, exhibits his watercolors with Nathalie Grégoire, who presents acrylics at the Vallée de Mortagne-au-Perche (Orne), until October 20, 2024.

Nathalie Grégoire grew up in Africa, before returning to at the age of 17.

I need colors. So I paint, in an autodidact way, without having the pretension of equaling this or that great painter, or even copying him. I draw inspiration from photos I find on the internet, most of the time.

The painter reproduces well-known faces from cinema, but can also make portraits of individuals, on request. We find in his works very saturated colors, and a certain sense of originality in the technique, with for example canvases painted with coffee.

Painting the Perche

The other part of these Crossed Views, the name of the exhibition, is that of Jacky Roger. The former teacher says he is very attached to the rural and peasant world. “I primarily paint landscapes. I reproduce the Perche and its mills a lot. And I go to places that left their mark on the great painters, like Saint-Paul-de-Vence for example, in the hinterland. »

Jacky Roger represents landscapes, and also reproductions, always in watercolor, of Japanese prints by Hiroshige.
