In Vannes, the adventurer journalist Philibert Humm presented his “Novel de gare”

“It is the story of an adventure which was supposed to last two months, but which ended in blood sausage, after eight days, because of a loose thumb.” Present at the Cheminant bookstore, this Thursday, October 3 in , Philibert Humm, 2022 interallié prize for his excellent “Roman river”, presented his second work of wandering adventures entitled, this time, “Roman de gare”.

Published at the end of August, still in a beautiful hard cover, as the author likes, the book recounts – with the same verve as the previous one – his trip by train, from the Villeneuve Saint-Georges marshalling station (Val-de- ) in Clermont-Ferrand.

“I like to talk about bad memories”

“In the fashion of the hobos who once crossed the United States on freight trains, we chose to board an empty cattle car and leave things to chance.” Because in the adventure, Philibert Humm is accompanied by Simon, an old college friend, from Vannes to boot!

Setting out at dawn, dressed in overalls and equipped with a backpack, their journey will take them to the volcanoes of Auvergne. But a thumb injury will force the two hobos to return to earlier than expected. Bad luck? Not really ! “I like to talk about failures, bad memories. These are the ones we remember. Adventure doesn’t have to be climbing Kilimanjaro! », specifies the mischievous Philibert Humm.
