The rain could not have extinguished their ardor. Despite the gloomy and capricious weather, Mylène Farmer’s fans would not have missed the reunion with their idol for anything. Friday and Saturday, the singer performed at the Stade de , in Saint-Denis, two of her three final concerts of her “Nevermore” tour which began… in June 2023 in .

The two shows this weekend should have been held last year but were postponed until this fall for security reasons. In the midst of riots following Nahel’s death, the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture took the decision to cancel the concerts to “allow the police to deploy elsewhere”.

It was therefore necessary to make up for this missed appointment. And if the wait was long for the fans, it seems that it was the same for Mylène Farmer who, on Friday, seemed particularly radiant and happy to be reunited with her audience.

As a preamble to the concert, the clip of Regrets was screened to 80,000 spectators as a tribute to Jean-Louis Murat, who died in May 2023, who performed this title with the singer.

Dark and mystical

Then, “Nevermore” got to the heart of the matter with its flocks of crows and its allusions to the work of Edgar Allan Poe. In an atmosphere that was sometimes disastrous, made up of hedges of honor of scarecrows topped with skulls evoking the masks of plague doctors, sometimes mystical, with its decor of an unstructured cathedral, the 63-year-old artist, sometimes surrounded by dancers, intertwined the tubes (Libertine, Tristana, Without counterfeiting, XXL, It’s a beautiful day, Yes but… no…) to songs less known to the general public. The whole thing gave a good retrospective vision of his repertoire and his favorite motifs.

An obligatory passage in Mylène Farmer’s concerts, the sequence of ballads, saw Yvan Cassar sit at the piano in the middle of the stage advancing into the crowd. The star then performed Dreamof which she asked the crowd to repeat the chorus. Then, the only exception to the set list identical to those of last year’s concerts, in place of The OtherIt is The Words which she intoned. And, big surprise, Seal who shared this title – gold record in France and Belgium – with her, joined her on stage (rebelote Saturday evening) to sing this bilingual ballad that they had never performed together in concert.

“When we are lucky enough to have a song that unites”

Another highlight with the inevitable DisenchantedTHE hit by Mylène Farmer which set the audience at the Stade de France on fire. “When you’re lucky enough to have a song that brings people together… It’s so important to come together. It’s wonderful to hear you sing,” said the star, who is generally not very talkative during her concerts, before asking the audience to sing the chorus again.

The show was already almost coming to an end. All that remained was to conclude with Rekindle the starsone of his latest singles. “The flood after me,” she sang amidst the pyrotechnic bouquets, in a prophetic way: it was under heavier rain that spectators returned to the metro or RER. Mylène Farmer left in a glass elevator which rose at the back of the stage and in which she evaporated.

She will reappear Tuesday evening, for a final concert at the Stade de France. She will thus complete a tour of fourteen dates, the largest stadium tour in French musical history.
