Heather Locklear shared the details of her one and only date with Tom Cruise during a panel at 90s Con Florida on Saturday. The “Melrose Place” actress recalled how she met the “Top Gun” actor at an audition in the early 1980s.
After the casting, where they were both “terrible,” Cruise ended up going to her house. But she felt too old to go out with him, even though they’re the same age (now 62), she explained. “At the time, he was just like this little baby. He ended up coming to my house with Sean Penn,” she recalled. “They were nice, but he was very ‘Yes ma’am’ with me, and I was ‘Okay sir’ on my end.”
Heather Locklear added that she ended up dancing with Tom Cruise at a club, where he performed knee slides on the floor, similar to the ones he would later do in the film “Risky Business” (1983).
The “Spin City” actress admitted she was a “rock ‘n’ roll girl” at the time, and Tom Cruise wasn’t her type. “He didn’t quite fit in,” she laughed, even though “he was really cute.”
Heather Locklear was married to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee from 1986 to 1993, and then to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora from 1994 to 2006. She is currently engaged to former motocross rider Chris Heisser. In 2018, she was arrested for domestic violence.
Heather Locklear is set to reunite with her former “Melrose Place” cast members in a reboot of the soap opera. Talks are still ongoing. “The stars have to align, but we want to do it as much as the fans do,” actress Laura Leighton said at 90s Con Florida.
