>> 2024: a landmark year for the development of health for patients

The Department of Preventive Medicine also said that it is working closely with WHO and the International Health Regulations (IHR) in China to proactively update and provide accurate and complete information, thereby avoiding unnecessary panic while ensuring vigilance and caution during the current winter-spring period, which is conducive to the spread of respiratory pathogens.

Major pathogens include seasonal influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and HMPV.

According to the results of monitoring of the 52e week of 2024, reported by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), samples collected from outpatient and emergency departments revealed primary causative agents including influenza viruses, human metapneumovirus ( HMPV) and rhinovirus.

China is currently in winter, the usual time for increased respiratory infections. Major pathogens include seasonal influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and HMPV.

According to the same surveillance report, the number of cases of respiratory infections with flu-like symptoms is lower than in the same period last year. Chinese authorities have said the country’s ongoing respiratory infections are typical and did not constitute an unusual public health event.

The Department of Preventive Medicine has asked provincial-level Health Services to implement preventive measures against respiratory diseases, especially in the winter-spring season. He called for stricter surveillance of infectious diseases, including respiratory diseases, in the community, health facilities and at border crossings.
