discover the new notebook and the compulsory exams for 2025

What changes in 2025: a new examination at 6 years

From 2025, a new health exam will be introduced at the age of 6. The introduction of this examination responds to the recommendations of the High Council of Public Health. At 6 years old, the child mobilizes essential learning and adaptation skills to succeed in school. The objective is to prevent possible educational and medical difficulties as soon as they appear.

This key moment of entry into preparatory classes marks a crucial period for the child’s development. The exam includes a detailed assessment covering several areas:

  • Physical growth : weight, height and general development.
  • Oral health : prevention of cavities and gum disease.
  • Vision and hearing : screening for sensory disorders.
  • Psychosocial development : socialization, language and autonomy.
  • Physical activity and sleep quality : identification of imbalances.
  • Vaccination status : update of vaccination reminders, including whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus and poliomyelitis.

To integrate this examination without burdening medical follow-up, the consultation scheduled between the third week and the first month of life is eliminated. Thus, the total number of examinations remains stable at 20, all fully covered by Health Insurance.

A modernized health record

Simultaneously, a new health record will be distributed in 2025, offering a wealth of up-to-date information to support families:

  • Benchmarks on the child’s motor, cognitive and social development.
  • Practical advice: diet, sleep, physical activity.
  • Tools for early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Pages dedicated to screen management, with an emphasis on misuse.
  • A specific section for adolescents, including questions on endometriosis and psychoaffective state.

This notebook also includes prevention messages, particularly on shaken baby syndrome and postpartum depression. Its digitization is planned for 2026 via Mon Espace Santé, thus making information more accessible.

What are the benefits for children and families?

  1. Reinforced medical monitoring : this examination is part of a prevention approach, allowing early detection of disorders.
  2. Ease for parents : centralization of appointments and information for a better understanding of medical needs.
  3. Benefits for schooling : by identifying difficulties upon entry into primary school, the child benefits from appropriate support.
  4. Controlled cost : covered by Social Security, the program imposes no additional costs on families.

A challenge for health professionals

Pediatricians and general practitioners will have to deal with an increase in consultations at the start of the school year. However, by redistributing appointments over several years, the system aims to balance the load.

In 2025, children’s health will therefore take a new turn with innovative measures adapted to current challenges. These measures promise more relevant and accessible monitoring, ensuring harmonious development for younger generations.
