“Much more than last year, there were an enormous number of you, throughout our territory, in the big cities but also in the towns, to mobilize and participate in all the events that many associations and municipalities have organized, in order to raise awareness among all women, during the month of October, of the need to prevent the onset of breast cancer and also to raise funds.
Solidarity walks and races, aquatic relays and matches took place throughout the department. Raffles, auctions, balls were organized. Gifts made by farmers were given to sick people. The League teams accompanied the blood donation drives. You were great. This beautiful momentum, this beautiful generosity was remarkable.
We would like to specially thank all the organizers, sports and professional associations, businesses, town halls who were fully involved and, thanks to exemplary organization and the participation of their volunteers, were able to create unifying and creative events which took place in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Breast cancer remains the leading female cancer in terms of frequency and even if therapeutic progress is considerable, thanks to the significant advances made by Research (88% remission at 5 years), the treatments remain heavy and the prognosis is poor. in 12% of cases. We must not relax our efforts to reverse this disease.
Thanks to you, this year, you allowed the League to raise €109,000 (provisional figure because the last payments will arrive during the first quarter of 2025).
What will this money be used for?
Firstly, the funding of certified research teams working on breast cancer but also the support of people affected by this disease, by
supported by supportive care throughout the duration of their treatment. Psychological support sessions, dietary advice, socio-aesthetic treatments, sophrology and adapted physical activity sessions will be financed thanks to your donations.
Finally, we will continue to disseminate prevention messages in companies and associations.
