Thanks to the A yellow rose action against Alzheimer’s disease, from October 4, in the Leclerc centers in the region (Morbihan), the Lorient Armor Lions-club offered equipment, Monday December 30, 2024, to the The Cognitive Behavioral Unit (CCU) of the Bretagne Sud Hospital Group in Kerlivio, in Hennebont.

The project was set up in 2024 in collaboration with Doctor Gillioz, geriatric neurologist.

The UCC is a protected rehabilitation sector welcoming people with severe behavioral disorders in the context of a degenerative memory disease (Alzheimer’s disease or other) which compromise their ability to remain in their living space. It offers care based as much as possible on non-drug therapies to reduce the level of problems and allow them to return and remain in their place of life.

Weighted blankets, night lights, games…

“The choice of equipment was made by the entire healthcare team and the selection was not easy, specifies Maryannick Lomenech, from Lions-club Lorient Armor. For the comfort of patients, the team opted for weighted blankets to improve the quality of sleep; night lights that accompany falling asleep; a weighted stuffed dog that promotes calm and concentration; a large domino game accessible to as many people as possible so that the patient does not find themselves in a situation of failure, and many other things like stuffed animals. »

At the same time, a donation of €1,000 was made to the Lions Alzheimer association, which aims to keep people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or related illnesses at home.
