From October 2025, the authorities will test dematerialized instructions on around a hundred products, better updated and supplemented with educational videos on the proper use of the drug.
Will we soon see the end of paper leaflets in medicine boxes? “Digital instructions” will be tested on around a hundred molecules, including paracetamol, the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) announced on Wednesday at the launch of this experiment. Manufacturers who voluntarily participate in the project must, by October 1, 2025, modify the boxes “to add a QR code to boxes in town” et “delete the paper notice for the hospital”indicates the ANSM in a press release.
This pilot phase should last two years and will concern 93 drugs available in community pharmacies, including paracetamol (forms intended for adults), statins (used to combat cholesterol or cardiovascular diseases), vaccines and even products used to reduce stomach acid, as well as 474 medications in the hospital. “Specific consideration will also be given to access to this information for hospitalized patients”specifies the ANSM.

Enriched notices
Throughout this phase, the use of electronic notices will be evaluated by representatives of patients, healthcare professionals and manufacturers. The objective is to provide patients “better information” medical, since the digital notices hosted in the Public Medicines Database (BDPM) are updated regularly, underlines the medicine policeman. This development should also favor “better use of medicines”, the e-notices must be accompanied by instructional videos which will explain how to use the medicine correctly.
This project is part of a reflection launched at European level and in a logic of ecological responsibility. Similar experiments have been carried out in hospitals in other member states of the European Union, recalls the ANSM. The list of laboratories selected for the pilot phase will be published at the end of January 2025 at the latest.
