The volunteers and employees of the Douce’Heure association, which has just celebrated its tenth anniversary, contribute to the well-being of hospitalized children and the comfort of their families.

The Douce’Heure association, which offers “a break from illness”recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, at the Domaine du Grand Puy, in Montpellier. “Ten years of support, gentleness, kindness, sharing and smiles”.
The opportunity to bring together volunteers (around twenty), employees (two socio-estheticians and an art therapist) and their families, as well as partners, patrons and representatives of health institutions.
Douce’Heure was created in 2014 by Laurence Barrau. This socioesthetician at the University Hospital had noted the benefits of her practice in oncology, wishing to extend it to other pediatric services. Over time, the association added art therapy and creative expression workshops in small groups.
In a very difficult period for the child and their loved ones, the care allows “to improve the confidence and self-esteem of the young patient, to promote self-expression, and to contribute to the well-being of the child. child and their family, from minor injuries to the end of life, these big-hearted women support these children and adolescents weakened by illness or disability.”
Stands during the holidays
It was Célia Chambon, president of the Elancia group, who was the godmother of the 10th anniversary of Douce’Heure. Elancia and the Polygone are partners of the association. For two years, a major gift package operation has been carried out with the L’Occitane (Polygone) and Nocibé (Trifontaine) boutiques. The association’s volunteers will be back there during the end-of-year holidays.

“In conjunction with the medical teams”
Today, the association offers its interventions in the various pediatric departments of the CHU, as well as at the Saint-Pierre de Palavas Institute.

Douce’Heure volunteers also offer Amma massages (a method of relaxation and relaxation, practiced on an ergonomic chair), which help reduce the stress caused by the child’s hospitalization.
Once a month, a workshop also allows parents who have their baby hospitalized in neonatology to make them a unique cuddly toy.
