A stone’s throw from Oréliance, on the large roundabout which marks the entrance to the clinic, a building, recently built, has housed the brand new back center since last March. This is a diagnostic and consultation center for spinal pathologies. At the origin of this center, Doctor Ahmed Benzakour, surgeon specializing in spine and practicing in Oréliance. “The idea is to create a reference center on the back which avoids patients having to go to Paris to have an appointment. And having new premises, close to a reference clinic, should also attract young practitioners and therefore reduce waiting times.” explains Doctor Benzakour.

For the moment, they are two orthopedic surgeons to practice including Doctor Raphaêl Pietton, specialist in scoliosis in children and adults (he is on call every month). But, ultimately, other surgeons should be set up, including a pain specialist. The center also hopes to attract a sports doctor, a rheumatologist. ” We know that young people now like to work in teams. This is what the center will allow. And for surgeons like me, it is very important to have different perspectives on sometimes complex cases.” insists Doctor Benzakour. The center of the back, which for the moment has not communicated much about its existence, does not receive only on medical prescription. ” Doctors call on us when they have already tried treatments that have not worked. But, it must be clarified that we are not a wellness center for back pain.“.

One of the strong points of this new back center is being able to offer patients, in the same place, a consultation combined with an x-ray examination. The center has also equipped itself with a latest generation imaging system called EOSedge. It allows you to obtain full-body frontal and lateral images with a low dose of irradiation. For Dr. Pietton, this is important data. “Young people who suffer from scoliosis must have X-rays very regularly and in terms of cumulative dose of radiation, it is far from negligible. There, it is 4 to 8 times less than with conventional imaging”. This device is also unique in the Loiret and there are only 30 in France.
