Nogent-le-Phaye. An innovative commitment to stroke prevention. Thursday, the Nogent-le-Phaye pharmacy was given the 1 er MyDiagnostick device in Eure-et-Loir, to detect atrial fibrillation (AF) in people aged 65 and over. The structure will be, on a voluntary basis, the pilot site in the department, for two months, paving the way in terms of stroke prevention.

This initiative is led by Éric Morin and Jack Pichon, respectively president and head of protocol of the Chartres Dean Lions Club, and the Health Insurance Association (ADPS), in partnership with the cardiology department of the Chartres Louis-Pasteur hospital. .

“We are very happy to welcome this first, thank you for choosing our town as a pilot site,” rejoiced Benjamin Beyssac, the mayor. Nogent-le-Phaye is a land of innovation, and this complements the access to care that we can provide to our residents.” The elected official recalled that the municipality had a health center, “the result of a municipal project”, which the pharmacy recently joined.

The central tool of this screening campaign, MyDiagnostick is a device that resembles a metal stick approximately 30 cm long, which patients must hold while seated. “It lasts one minute, it’s painless and free,” declares the president of the Chartres Lions Club Dean.

An immediate result

This device provides an immediate result: a green LED indicates the absence of AF, while a red LED suggests the presence of AF and requires a thorough medical consultation. If the test turns out to be positive, the person will benefit from an official treatment protocol.

At the end of these two months, 16 new devices will be made available, until December, in voluntary Chartres pharmacies. They will be redistributed to other pharmacies in neighboring towns.

“ADPS financed 10 of these devices. We also have the support of the CPTS (territorial professional health communities), the ARS (regional health agency), the Eure-et-Loir pharmacists’ union and the council of the order of doctors, emphasizes Éric Morin. This support really encourages us in this project. Our goal is to expand throughout the Chartres area, then the entire department.”
