This study, carried out as part of the DiaMont project, a multidisciplinary study of monogenic forms of diabetes in the Tunisian population, funded by the IPT, will contribute to the development of a DNA chip for this form of diabetes, which will allow genetic diagnosis fast and cost-effective and will help doctors make therapeutic decisions for better care of patients and their families.

The project, started in March 2023 and which will extend over three years, is coordinated by Rim Kefi, head of the research team at the IPT Biomedical and Oncological Genomics Laboratory, as part of his doctoral thesis in human biology, which she defended on February 23, 2024.

The main objective of this study is to raise awareness of monogenic forms of diabetes in Tunisia. It also aims to raise awareness among health professionals and civil society of the specificities of monogenic diabetes in order to ensure early detection of the disease, prevent complications and strengthen capacities and skills in diabetology at the national level.
