We don't necessarily realize the importance of the discounts granted by Tesla on the Model Y. So let's compare with used models.
Since the start of summer, we have been following the incredible saga of the Tesla Model Y at 36,990 euros. Thanks to the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros and an exceptional discount of 4,000 euros on all vehicles in stock, the American manufacturer has managed to place its star 100% electric SUV at a totally incredible price in a very competitive market. This summer, for almost 2 months we even saw the discount applied to vehicles on order!
It must be recognized that at this price the Tesla Model Y propulsion has no serious competitor on the market in terms of value for money. There are a few Chinese exceptions, but the new arrivals cannot yet boast of Tesla's image, and the new European customs fees quickly cooled their enthusiasm anyway. You often accuse us on Mobiwisy of Tesla bashing… when you don't accuse us of favoring Tesla, it depends on the mood and the subjects and it's fair game. But we are clear, the Tesla Model Y Propulsion at 36,990 euros is a golden deal!
Tesla makes people happy and unhappy
But we must spare a thought for Tesla customers who purchased a Model Y in 2023 at a price close to 45,000 euros. The latter are now looking to resell them by applying the standard discount of 20% for the first year of life, which brings us to a price of… 36,000 euros, almost the price of the new model! Really hard, not to say unfair, but that’s the other side of the Tesla coin! We therefore find ourselves in a totally ludicrous situation where a used 2023 model with 20,000 km on the clock costs barely 390 euros less than a new 2024 vintage. And with such low mileage for the occasion, they are really two strictly identical cars.
In a few months, the cards will be completely reshuffled with the arrival of the highly anticipated Juniper-type Model Y. Until then, we will have to liquidate stocks of existing models and it is not unthinkable to see new promotions on new models. One thing is certain, buying a Tesla for a year is really a very risky bet!
