Deep brain stimulation has just received the green light from Horizon Health Network. This operation, now offered at the Moncton Hospital, allows New Brunswick patients affected by Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders to obtain treatment in their province.
“ People will be treated close to home, in their province. It will facilitate transportation and all that, but in addition, it will offer a greater number of surgeries per year for these patients. »
Dr. Antonios El Helou will perform the first deep brain stimulation surgery at the Moncton Hospital this month.
