Motorcyclists from the Guadeloupe gendarmerie were particularly active this weekend, carrying out a series of road checks across the island. These operations aim to reduce dangerous behavior and improve safety on the roads. The results are clear: 110 infractions were noted in just two days.

Among the offenses observed, drunk driving remains a major problem. Of the 21 cases of blood alcohol content noted, 14 resulted in license retention. In addition, two drivers were caught under the influence of drugs, also leading to their licenses being withheld.

Excessive speed is another common infraction. Seventeen speeding violations were recorded, including two of more than 40 km/h, which led to licenses being withheld. The gendarmerie also intercepted three unlicensed drivers.

Using the phone while driving is an increasingly common offense. Twelve drivers were fined for using their phones while driving. This practice is dangerous because it distracts the driver and increases the risk of an accident.

The police also noted several other offenses:

  • Four seat belt defects
  • Four vehicles without insurance
  • Six vehicles without up-to-date technical inspection
  • A vehicle with smooth tires
  • Twenty-five offenses linked to tinted window regulations
  • Two cases of non-mutation of registration document

These offenses show the importance of maintaining constant vigilance and respecting the rules of the road to ensure everyone’s safety.

In addition to bikers, all gendarmerie units participated in these checks, demonstrating an active presence throughout the territory. This mobilization is essential to deter risky behavior and remind drivers of the importance of road safety.

To sum up

The weekend in Guadeloupe was marked by a strong mobilization of the gendarmerie, which recorded 110 offenses. The main offenses include drink driving, excessive speed, and using the phone while driving. The gendarmerie continues to strengthen its controls to improve safety on the roads and reduce the number of accidents. Motorists are called upon to behave responsibly and respect the rules of the road for their safety and that of others.
