Why did you change the journal “hypnosis and health” to “hypnosis and integrative health”?

Professor Bioy – First of all, because hypnosis is fully part of the field of integrative health.

Health professionals and psychologists are also hypnotherapists or practice other practices such as acupuncture or meditation.

In view of this reality, the evolution of the journal was necessary, especially since complementary practices are becoming more and more part of our society and taking root in our healthcare institutions.

Field systems are being developed, particularly in hospitals, such as the Institute of Integrative and Complementary Medicine (IMIC) at Bordeaux University Hospital, which offers meditation and hypnosis to caregivers and patients.

The A-MCA is a partner of the journal. Why this choice ?

Véronique Suissa – This review constitutes considerable progress in the field of integrative health.

Furthermore, it is an extension of the actions of the A-MCA which, originally, is made up of a network of highly qualified experts, also publishing on these themes or as part of institutional work.

It therefore seemed relevant to us to give them the opportunity to participate in publication work for this new journal but also to promote field experiences, clinical situations, and to offer practical sheets via our network of internal practitioners.

In addition, the A-MCA also has the mission of democratizing these subjects. This magazine is a new step towards achieving this objective and expanding it to an academic audience.

Can this scientific journal, now dedicated to the hospital and university world, remain a support for the general public, particularly for seniors?

Professor Bioy – The magazine already existed under the name “journal of hypnosis and health” and was aimed at the general public.

Today, it becomes “the journal of hypnosis and integrative health” and is becoming scientific with access to CAIRN info, both nationally and internationally.

However, the magazine maintains a dimension of practical information for the general public and for the ecosystem of professionals, who are not necessarily experienced in complementary medicine, particularly caregivers, health executives or even directors of nursing homes, etc. hospitals and patient associations.

Thus, the general public interested in these subjects will be able to access informed information. Seniors are an integral part of this general public, which strives to be more active in their health through prevention and healthier lifestyles.

Is it also a support for the more institutional ecosystem, such as senior managers and elected officials?

Véronique Suissa – Quite. Above all, many managers of institutions (nursing homes, hospitals, companies, etc.) integrate certain practices for the quality of life of their users or employees but lack benchmarks.

Likewise, more and more elected officials are interested in these subjects without having in-depth knowledge in the field: scientific advances, training standards, regulations, field systems.

This is also the whole meaning of the presence of the A-MCA within the Ministerial Group led by the Ministry of Health. These actors, sometimes faced with a lack of knowledge of the scientific literature or the concrete applications of these practices, will be able to obtain benchmarks.

Especially since many initiatives exist but they are not always structured, valued or coordinated. The magazine will provide them with informed information.
