Hard drugs, new medicine against Covid-19? In the United States, a 41-year-old woman with long-term Covid managed to get rid of her symptoms thanks to the consumption of two psychedelic substances: MDMA, which is the delight/unhappiness of partygoers, and psilocybin, the psychoactive molecule found… in hallucinogenic mushrooms.
These treatments have obviously been tested in a therapeutic setting, reports Science Alert. The forty-year-old, affected by Covid-19 in February 2022, had since suffered from symptoms of long Covid: fatigue, depression, joint pain, repeated headaches, anxiety, etc.
Symptoms disappear within a few months
To relieve these symptoms, the American tried numerous methods such as fasting, massage therapy and even acupuncture. She eventually turned to an alternative care program. In May 2022, the patient received a first dose of psilocybin and noted an alleviation of symptoms. But she also suffered from chills as the treatment wore off.
