Fall vaccination campaign in the Laurentians

As the winter season approaches with an expected circulation of viruses and respiratory infections, the Public Health Department of the Laurentides Integrated Health and Social Services Center invites the population to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and the flu to protect your health and that of others. From October 16, the vaccination campaign will begin in the region and will offer the entire population the vaccine against influenza and COVID-19 free of charge, and to certain groups, the vaccine against pneumococcal infections.

Vaccination is particularly recommended for people who are at risk of developing complications if they contract these viruses and respiratory infections. Vulnerable or at-risk people are encouraged to make an appointment now: · People residing in a residential and long-term care center or in a private residence for seniors or living in other collective settings with a high proportion of people elderly and vulnerable; · People aged 60 and over; · People who are immunocompromised, on dialysis or living with a chronic illness; · Pregnant women and parents of babies under six months; · Health workers; · Adults living in remote or isolated areas.

The general population will also be able to make an appointment from October 16. To facilitate access to services, vaccination will be offered at all local service points in the region as well as in certain community pharmacies. It will be possible to receive vaccines against COVID-19 and flu during the same vaccination session. Making an appointment is required: · Online at clicsante.ca; · By telephone at 1 877 644-4545. In order to limit the spread of viruses and better protect the most vulnerable, the Laurentides Public Health Department also recalls the importance of continuing prevention measures, such as hand washing, limiting contact or wearing a mask when case of symptoms. If you have a fever, it is recommended to stay at home.
