The Te uo te ora association has been working for several years in French Polynesia to promote breast-feeding, whether through regular interventions in Children’s Centers, through events and workshops during World Breastfeeding Week. breastfeeding, or by advising parents on their breastfeeding journey.

The association has been working on the project of opening a telephone line for two years to support parents at each stage of breastfeeding by advising and supporting them. An initiative made possible today thanks to the financial support of Vodafone, Gaz de Tahiti and Allianz Assurance.

From Monday October 14, 89 600 800 will be open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.. At the end of the line, a team of 29 volunteers made up of maternity caregivers, midwives, childcare workers, pediatricians and PMI nurses. All followed specialized training organized by the association in May 2023, with the participation of two experts from Canada and .

Although the number is not free, if a person does not have credit to make a call, the association offers to call them back so that they can access the service without financial barriers.

This line is intended for families concerned about breastfeeding who have questions about it or are experiencing difficulties. It is not a medical emergency line.

The association will also organize a large feeding at Paofai Park on Saturday October 19, on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week.
