Players in the visual sector are (finally) coming together to fight together against myopia, a public health issue that is now widely documented.
The first States General of Myopia will thus be organized on November 19, 2024 at the Maison de la Chimie (Paris 7th), as part of the “National Myopia Week” which takes place from November 18 to 24, 2024.
On the program:
- Launch of the Collective “Together against myopia” bringing together the main players in the visual sector;
- Signature of a charter of commitments;
- Presentation of a new study on the appropriation of myopia braking devices by ophthalmologists (Snof).

Introduction
- Reminder of the context of the General States: presentation of the “Together against myopia” Campaign and the “National Myopia Week”.
Round table 1: the epidemiology of myopia
- Key figures and projections for 2050;
- Why this progression of myopia?
- A major health and economic issue.
Expected speakers: Dr Thierry Bour, ophthalmologist and former president of Snof
Rothschild Foundation Round table 2: how to act in the face of this epidemic?
- Prevent, detect, curb myopia in children;
- Supporting myopic patients;
- Ophthalmologists face the challenge of myopia. Presentation of a study conducted by the SNOF on ophthalmologists and the reduction of myopia;
- The role of orthoptists, opticians and pediatricians in the care of myopic patients.
