More and more of us are paying attention to what we consume, and particularly our diet. For several years now, new studies have been coming out regularly to show the health benefits of certain foods. Or on the contrary, to warn about different foods ultimately harmful for the body in the long term. Thus, more and more French people are turning to healthy foods, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, yogurts for the functioning of the microbiota or even specific proteins. Some even go so far as to consume organic foods as much as possible, in order to ensure the best possible diet. Unfortunately, this type of power supply is very expensive, and not every household can afford it. This is why most consumers rely mainly on foods found in supermarkets.

But among these foods, one of them is currently getting a lot of attention. This is a variety of yogurt. Indeed, the magazine 60 Millions de Consommateurs, which regularly carries out surveys on the products we use or the foods we eat, discovered that this type of yogurt contained several lumps of sugar in each jar alone. So, were you thinking about eating healthy? This may not be entirely true.

This type of yogurt, very popular with children, is in reality much too sweet.

The news broke in an article published by the online media 20 minutes, Le Journal des Seniors. And the least we can say is that it has overturned preconceived ideas about yogurts. If you think you are doing your body good by eating fruit yogurtsyou are actually consuming the sweetest yogurt on the market. Sugar, artificial additives, chemical flavors, preservatives of all kinds. Fruit yogurts are ultimately a lot less good for health than it seems.

To give you an idea, the majority of fruit yogurts found in supermarkets are made up of three to four cubes of sugarand all in one pot! A considerable amount which shows how consuming fruit yogurts is far from beneficial. Worse still, the survey carried out by 60 Million Consumers even showed that these yogurts mostly contained less than 10% fruit. It would therefore be more like sugar yogurts than fruit yogurts…

So, what alternatives should you turn to to eat yogurt without having a negative impact on your health?

To begin with, we do not recommend “low-fat” or “0%” options, which, to compensate for the lack of fat and therefore taste, add considerable quantities of additives and sweeteners. A simple, natural yogurtanything more classic will ultimately do the job much better for your health. Greek, Skyr, brewed or even a white cheese will be completely acceptable and delicious options. Finally, always remember to look at the sugar level in yogurts on the label, but also avoid artificial flavors and glucose-fructose syrups.
