The quest for youth can sometimes lead to absolutely terrifying events. This was particularly the case with a procedure called “vampire lift”. This method uses plasma and blood platelets on the face. Women have been diagnosed with HIV following the procedure.

The “vampire lift” is a medical-cosmetic procedure which consists of applying and injecting plasma rich in blood platelets into the face. This procedure is believed to stimulate the growth of new cells, and this would help combat the effects of aging in this area. This practice – which continues to grow in popularity – owes its notoriety to Kim Kardashian. However, the thing to know about this procedure is that although it is less invasive than surgery, it is far from safe.

Recently, it was reported that three American women were infected with HIV, possibly after performing a vampire lift at a spa in New Mexico. It is worth pointing out that this was an unlicensed establishment nicknamed VIP Spa. These cases were officially confirmed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The agency noted in particular that these were the first known cases of HIV transmitted via cosmetic injections.

Note that these cases are not recent, as the three women tested positive for HIV in 2018. However, the official announcement from the CDC is recent. At the time, the CDC investigated the establishment that caused the problem and it quickly closed its doors due to numerous violations of the law found there.
