With the necessary adjustments after the heavy rains of the day before, the opening of the Delta festival is scheduled for 6 p.m. this Thursday on the beaches of Prado. Yesterday, the first day had to be cancelled.
Second complicated day on the beaches of Prado. Scheduled for 4 p.m. this Thursday, September 5, the opening of the Delta festival was postponed to 6 p.m. due to the restoration of the premises after the severe weather that hit Marseille on the evening of Wednesday, September 4.
“Following the necessary arrangements to welcome you in the best possible conditions, we will open the doors at 6 p.m.,” the organizers indicate on their Instagram page.
A new scene set up in just three hours
“Sorry for the delay, we only had 2 to 3 centilitres of water to clear,” they then joke. A touch of humour that contrasts with the crazy adventures of this Thursday, September 5 for the Delta.
In an update posted on social media, the festival shares that the festival’s main stage has been too damaged by the weather, which prevents the concerts scheduled for this Thursday from taking place.
“After studying all the possibilities, we came up with a crazy and unprecedented idea for a festival in France: to build a completely new stage, in front of the existing one, in a record time of three hours,” describes the Delta organization.
“All the artists present have understood the situation and agreed to revise their show to adapt to these new exceptional and totally unprecedented conditions,” the festival further specifies, which nevertheless announces that only the French rapper PLK, “despite all the efforts made by the artist”, will not be able to perform on the occasion of this evening. Information confirmed by PLK on his Instagram account, who says he is “disgusted”.
The rest of the artists, such as DJ Martin Solveig and Helmut Fritz, will be there. Yesterday, Wednesday September 4, the organizers were forced to cancel the first day due to torrential rain.
In the Phocaean city, nearly 100 millimeters of rain fell in the space of a few hours. The streets and roads were flooded. In the evening, the Old Port overflowed and flooded the restaurant terraces.
