Plouguerneau (Finistère), it’s their little corner of paradise. Requested by TF1 in the video at the top of the article, Maryline and Jean-Paul are among the late-season vacationers: “Of course, at our age, we are no longer active, so we can do what we want,” concedes the latter in the video at the top of this article. The first advantage? Cheaper prices. Their location costs €19 per day compared to €25 in July, August and September.

With unpredictable weather, summer attendance in Brittany has dropped by -6% compared to last year and by -10% in a campsite in Plouguerneau. But the season is not over for manager Loïg Roudaut: “There are people, there are a lot of arrivals, a lot of people passing through“, he said. That’s 50 arrivals in two days, the late season holidaymakers are there. “September is always a month that counts. The weather is often nice, the days are shorter, we rest more and everything is open. The prices are cheaper. It is really a very important month for us as a campsite.”

This trend is confirmed in Brittany. September bookings in campsites and hotels are more numerous than last year. Holidaymakers want to enjoy the Breton coastline. The late season certainly attracts retirees, but also young workers. This is the case for Gaël, approached by the TF1 team. What does he like? “Being all alone and quiet, without tourists, that’s good. I get up and go for a swim and that’s it, I enjoy Brittany as we like it.” Gaël doesn’t hesitate to swim, even in water at 17 degrees. Proof that holidays in Brittany are invigorating, whatever the season.
