If the weather was more reasonable during the night of October 16 to 17 in Nice, a new vigilance orange is activated in the Alpes-Maritimes this Thursday for thunderstorms and rain-flooding.
Here are more details.
New weather alerts in the Alpes-Maritimes
It was a last minute decision: while the alerts were to take effect at 12 p.m., it was finally since 10 a.m. this Thursday that the department was once again on orange alert for storms and rain-flooding.
Significant amounts of rain are indeed expected, between 70 and 100 millimeterswith accumulations that can reach, locally, 120 millimetersespecially in the heights.
Schools closed this Thursday
As a precaution, the prefecture prefers to warn of “a significant risk of rivers overflowing, particularly in the west of the department”.
For safety reasons, all schools in the department are also closed this Thursday.
