The firefighters called to the scene took almost four hours to manage to free a dog stuck in a pipe, in Carsac-de-Gurson, in Dordogne, according to information from Blue Périgord.

In fact, the animal named Bueno got stuck in this cavity, four meters deep, this Wednesday. The pipes in which the dog was stuck were located under a municipal road.

Chasing a coypu

Bueno was walking with his mistress near Lake Gurson when the latter fell into this cavity. “He probably followed a coypu,” explains the deputy mayor, Cyril Amelin, to our colleagues at France Blue. A guess that could be appropriate given the breed of the animal – a Jack Russell – predisposed to hunting. Firefighters from Villefranche-de-Lonchat and Le Bugue were therefore dispatched to try to rescue the trapped animal.

Firstly, the emergency services attached a mobile phone to a broom in order to find out more about the condition of the dog and the pipes, located at depth. After hours of effort, firefighters finally managed to extract Bueno, safe and sound. To achieve this, the emergency services used a mechanical excavator. The dog’s mistress was therefore able to find, to her greatest happiness, her faithful companion.
