Oliver Oakes has been keen to dispel speculation surrounding Jack Doohan's future by saying the Australian would benefit from a real opportunity in Formula 1 at Alpine.
Since the signing of Franco Colapinto as the third driver, rumors have emerged suggesting that Jack Doohan will only have a limited time to prove himself before being replaced by the former Williams driver. Some observers believe that his contract would only cover the first five or six races of the season alongside Pierre Gasly.
Oliver Oakes, however, insisted that the 22-year-old driver is not on borrowed time and that the French team is not already planning to join Colapinto after just a few Grands Prix.
The arrival of the Argentinian, appreciated by Flavio Briatore, Alpine advisor, nevertheless raises questions, especially since the team already has Paul Aron and Ryo Hirakawa as reserve drivers. Oakes, however, affirms that this choice aims above all to broaden the team's options for the future by banking on a pool of young talents.

“He was a little hard on Jack, some of the stuff that was written by the keyboard warriors”, said the team manager.
-“And I think the intention is not to put pressure on him. I think the intention is not to put pressure on him, but to give the team options for the future.”
“For me, F1 is about margins. There are a lot of people who depend on one driver every weekend, and we need to make sure we have the best drivers in the race car, not just today, but also in the future.”, a conclu Oliver Oakes.
