Biathlon: Lou Jeanmonnot impresses (again)
Since the start of the 2024/2025 Women's Biathlon World Cup, Doubiste Lou Jeanmonnot is (by far) the athlete who wins most often. Before the start of this Antholz stage (Italy), the last organized before the Lenzerheide Worlds (Switzerland), she already had raised your arms four times : twice on an individual and two other times during a pursuit.
Never, however, had Lou Jeanmonnot managed to dominate the sprint exercise. Seventeenth to Kontiolahti (Finland), fourth in Hochfilzen (Austria), thirty-fifth to Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) and still seventh in Oberhof (Germany), she managed a full race this Thursday afternoon on the Italian facilities of the Südtirol Arena. “I am very happy”she then said in the mixed zone at the microphone of The Channel L’Equipe.
Selina Grotian as dauphine, two other French women with flowers
With the 10/10 and the best ski time (1 tenth from the rocket Anamarija Lampic), the Franc-Comtoise of the Olympic Mont d'Or therefore struck a big blow. “It’s a metronome. She doesn't necessarily try to shoot fast, but to shoot well. She’s in good shooting time”analyzed about it at the start of the week in our columns Yvon Mougelfirst French biathlon world medalist in history.
On this transalpine sprint, she showed it again. With this fifth victory of the winter, she also gains points from Franziska Preuss (10/10), third of the day, in the general classification.
-In second place, we find another German in the person of Selina Grotian. Impressive at 10/10, the winner of the mass start of Grand-Bornand fails just 7 sec 2 behind the Frenchwoman and offers himself a new podium in the big world. It's the Italian Dorothea Wierer (9/10) who finished fourth at home while the French Julia Simon (9/10) et Jeanne Richard (10/10) close the flower ceremony.
Finally, Océane Michelon (9/10), seventh, also signs another solid race. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (8/10) is sixteenth and Paula Botet (7/10) twenty-seventh.
