The Fontainebleau leisure and culture association (FLC) offers an original formula for historical meetings within the Hôtel Victoria in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne). Far from traditional conferences, these aperitif talks invite history enthusiasts to lively and friendly debates around current issues. The next meeting of these conversations with History is scheduled for this Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 7 p.m.

FLC offers aperitif talks around History

“We are trying to create a link between the people of Bellifontain,” summarizes Giovanna Possamaidirector of FLC, at the initiative of these meetings, in partnership with Paul and Isabelle Berthierowners of the Victoria Hotel. They are led by Philippe Jacquet, associate professor of history at François I high schoolis.

Participants can exchange their points of view over a drink and some appetizers, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. “ Philippe Jacquet voluntarily plays a provocative role, she continues. It ignites the spirits a little to attract the public, but the idea is to give everyone a voice. »

The next meeting also promises passionate exchanges around the theme of cancel culture : Should we debunk Colbert and all the bad guys in History? The format is simple but effective: after a historical presentation, time for debate between the participants.

These evenings, which bring together up to 25 people, take place in the warm setting of the Hôtel Victoria (122 rue de ). “It’s also a way of bringing this place to life differently, for the people of Bellifon to make it their own with a loyal audience, which is formed according to events,” underlines Paul Berthier.

Registration is compulsory (price €10) due to limited places, and the event is open to all. Some participants even come with their own files, ready to fuel the discussion! Another session will be offered on March 9, the discussion will focus on the question of the restitution of works of art in museums.
