Toto Wolff has claimed he will try to maintain a strong personal relationship with Lewis Hamilton despite his departure from Mercedes F1.
Hamilton is moving to Ferrari for the 2025 season, ending his long-standing and highly successful partnership with the German team.
Wolff was at the forefront of Hamilton's successful years at Mercedes, with the Briton winning 84 races and six championships as a driver for the Silver Arrows.
However, the driver will wear red next year as he begins a new chapter with Ferrari.
As they become rivals in the world of F1, Wolff said he hopes their personal relationship remains unchanged. And they have an advantage for this: they both live in Monaco and therefore cross paths very often.
“We said we were going to work hard to maintain the relationship.”
“It will be fierce competition on the track, but if individuals want a relationship to continue beyond the competition, it is possible to do so. And we will.”
“We'll always do our workouts in Monaco, so we'll cross paths. And we're both competitive and try to beat each other.”
“Or we'll go for a motorcycle ride. We'll have dinner together and all that stuff.”
Mercedes F1 has revealed the very nice video below of the last exchanges between Toto and Lewis in the hangar used to store the old single-seaters. To have !
