Williams risks not being able to field two racing cars in the final two Grands Prix of 2024 in Qatar and Abu Dhabi if there is one more incident in the race.
Even before Franco Colapinto's huge Q2 crash in Las Vegas, which initially put his health for the race in doubt, the team struggled to put together two complete cars for this weekend.
Williams is now completely out of spare parts and is in danger of exceeding the budget cap.
Team boss James Vowles admits one more crash could limit Williams to just one car.
"We can't rebuild another car this late in the season," he said before leaving in a few minutes.
“We are already fully focused on the 2025 car.”
He also confirmed that another problem is that Williams simply doesn't have any more money in the budget for more serious repairs.
"The situation is a real problem for us," Vowles said.
“There are other teams that have also had more accidents than expected this year and may be in a similar situation to us.”
“To cushion this kind of situation, I think each team should be allowed two major accidents as part of the budget. I think everyone would agree with that.”
