The 2025 Race of Champions (ROC) will see Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel join forces to defend the colors of Germany. The event will take place for the first time in the southern hemisphere, at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, on March 7 and 8, an iconic venue which hosted the Olympic Games in 2000.

The two German drivers are no strangers to this annual competition, launched in 1988, since Schumacher distinguished himself by taking second place in the 2023 edition, while Vettel also finished second in 2022, behind Sebastien Loeb.

The return of an iconic duo

This will be the duo’s fourth opportunity to represent Germany as teammates at the ROC. They will compete against drivers from different disciplines, including single-seater, rallying and endurance, in a competition that brings together the best talents in world motorsport.

Still seeking a return to Formula 1, and potentially in the running for a drive at Audi, Mick Schumacher shared his enthusiasm: “Australia is one of my favorite places and representing Germany with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will surely be a great pleasure. After finishing 2nd at the individual ROC in Sweden in 2023 and at the ROC Nations Cup in ROC Mexico with Seb, the goal this time around must be to win the trophy, both in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday evening and in the individual Race of Champions on Saturday. »

“I’m looking forward to meeting all the other drivers and spending time with them during the Race of Champions weekend in Sydney. I’m sure the drivers will have a great time together and put on a great show for the Australian fans.”he added.

For his part, Sebastian Vettel, winner of the ROC in 2015 in London, underlined the importance of this event for him: “I’m excited to return to the Race of Champions and team up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race at the old Sydney Olympic Stadium, which seems to be an ideal venue for the Race of Champions. »

Victory objective for both men

Vettel also shared his passion for the event and his determination to shine alongside Mick Schumacher: “All drivers who have the honor of participating in ROC fall in love with the event, because it reminds us why we started racing: pure competition, and of course, with identical cars, there is no of excuses. I’ll do everything I can to help Germany win another ROC Nations Cup title with Mick on Friday night, but I won’t do him any favors when we go for the final victory on Saturday night, especially since he beat me in the semis. -individual ROC final in Sweden in 2023! »

“At ROC, the competition is always intense on the track and everyone wants to win, but it’s also about creating a great show for the fans”he concluded.

Germany, the most successful team in the ROC Nations Cup with eight victories, hopes to expand its record. Michael Schumacher, Mick’s father, had contributed to six of these successes, although he never won the individual title.

The Race of Champions 2025 therefore promises a great reunion between the two men who will give everything to win a new title, while offering a great show to the fans.
