French Suicide adapted into a TV series, Eric Zemmour rehabilitated?

Back to the television box. Three years after the end of his daily columns on the show Faced with information and the start of his political career, Éric Zemmour is preparing his return to the screens. The president of Reconquest is currently filming the television adaptation of French suicide (Albin Michel), one of his biggest bookstore successes, published in 2014 and sold some 500,000 copies. According to The Parisianthe project is to make it a documentary mini-series of four 52-minute episodes, intended to be broadcast on the Canal group’s Planète+ channel, in a year at the earliest. The information has since been confirmed by Diane Ouvry, Eric Zemmour’s press secretary.

Produced by Pallas Télévision, which regularly produces stories for M6 or 5, the adaptation is currently being filmed in . Éric Zemmour would have been seen, suit tie and blue scarf around his neck, in the Vél d’Hiv children’s memorial garden, as well as rue Nicolas Appert, in the XIe district of the capital, where the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo until the Islamist attack of January 2015, which cost the lives of twelve of its employees.

A book hated on the left

When it was released, the best-seller by the man who was then just a simple journalist aroused the ire of the media left. The World had denounced “the individual drift of a polemicist, who clearly flirts with the extreme right”a prose « rance »a “conspiracy reading” contested by “the best experts”. Liberation had mocked the theses of a “identity troll”, “homophobic, Islamophobic and sexist”. No doubt a little jealous of the success of the man who had previously been his opponent on iTele, Christophe Barbier did not hesitate to attack Eric Zemmour’s readers. “Among his supporters, we find a few aggregates, but many rednecks”then estimated the director of L’Express.

But, ten years later, we can wonder who, among “rednecks” or Germanopratin commentators, had been right. “France is going to bed, France is dying”wrote Éric Zemmour. At a time of our country’s loss of sovereignty over its own soil, its invasion by hateful crowds, its abysmal debt, its image ridiculed on the international scene, which can seriously undermine the analysis of the successful author? Each day that passes offers us a new illustration of this weakening of the French nation-state, of this methodical deconstruction of old hierarchies under the effect of socialist, immigrationist or neo-feminist ideologies.

The fault of having been right too soon

Asked in Evening 3on November 14, 2014, Eric Zemmour gave the reasons for the success of his book. “I think there are a lot of people who no longer recognize their country. They are unhappy. They have the impression that it is no longer Francehe declared. And I put words to their pain. (…) Because we have poisoned France and the French people. And he allowed himself to be poisoned by what I call the three Ds: deconstruction, derision, destruction. »

Today, there are only a handful of cranks who deny the decadence of France. Almost the entire right ended up adopting Eric Zemmour’s analyzes and the Parisian commentators ate their hats. The television adaptation of the famous pamphlet bears witness to this rehabilitation. That of a man guilty, no doubt, of having been right too soon.
