While it has put an end to its star policy over the last two years, PSG version Messi/Neymar/Mbappé is cited as a bad example in Formula 1 at a time when the Aston Martin team is carrying out ambitious recruitment with a view to of next year.

PSG is talked about in Formula 1, but not sure that the comparison pleases Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Former F1 world champion, now a consultant, Nico Rosberg compared the new project of the Aston Martin team to the now past policy of PSG and its stars.

The Aston Martin team, only 5th in the constructors’ standings this season in F1, has just recruited the renowned engineer Adrian Newey, considered an F1 legend. The latter will leave Red Bull to join Aston Martin from 2025, just like Enrico Cardile, another renowned Ferrari engineer. An XXL recruitment in the world of F1, which however does not convince everyone in the industry.

“PSG had Messi, Neymar and Mbappé, and they never won the Champions League”

“Look at PSG, in football, warned Nico Rosberg on Sky Sports. They had Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, all three at the same time. Three of the best football players of all time, and everyone else was pretty good too. And they have never won the Champions League. Because, of course, it’s great to bring in the greatest geniuses, the best managers. However, they still need to integrate and work together optimally, because the quality of a team depends on its ability to collaborate. »

Hard not to find in Rosberg’s words the course followed by the management of PSG since the summer of 2023 which had seen the departures of Messi, at the end of his contract, and Neymar, exfiltrated to Saudi Arabia. Since then, Kylian Mbappé has also left and the capital club seems to have recovered very well from the departure of the three stars since, in addition to sporting results as good or even better, the new general director of the club Victoriano Melero explained that he “wasn’t there” negative commercial impact from the MNM, on the contrary: “Revenues for the 2023-2024 season are higher than those of the previous one. And we will also be increasing in 2025.”
