Paqueta moves closer to life ban

In the sports betting affair, Lucas Paqueta continues to worsen his situation. By committing two new obstacles to the investigation, the Brazilian could well be suspended for life.

Already in the sights of justice, the Paqueta case is not getting any better. Accused of having voluntarily taken yellow cards during four Premier League matches to rig sports bets benefiting significant sums to those close to him, the West Ham attacking midfielder is also said to have committed two new offenses.

The former OL is accused of obstructing the investigation and non-cooperation with the police. The Sun and the Daily Mail report that the player is unable to present his old mobile phone seized at the start of the affair but returned to the player. A cell phone requested for a new seizure that the player did not return claiming to have thrown it away.

If the English federation is campaigning for Lucas Paqueta to be banned for life, for the moment the Brazilian is not threatened and continues to play and score with the Hammers.

His hearing is scheduled for March and the verdict is expected during the summer. For his part, the player continues to deny the facts even if the investigation reveals that around sixty people all located in Brazil bet between 7 and 400 pounds sterling on the player’s cards during matches against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth. Meeting where the player has received warnings and some are very avoidable.
