Charles Leclerc has indicated that he wants to learn from his future teammate, Lewis Hamilton, while showing the extent of his talent against the ultimate reference represented by a seven-time world champion.

The Monegasque first shared his curiosity to see how a driver who has had so many victories works.

I will be very curious to see what he has done well throughout his career to experience all the success he has had”, indicated Charles Leclerc during an interview with The Race and ESPN.

He has very few weaknesses, in fact, I don’t know Lewis’s weaknesses. He’s a super strong driver, always there, super fast, super consistent.

It will be very interesting for me to learn from Lewis and show what I am capable of in the same car as him. These two things motivate me a lot.”

Leclerc : “I always thought it’s so much better to have the best as a teammate

Charles Leclerc does not put pressure on himself before facing Hamilton, preferring to stay “concentrate” about his work.

“I don’t really think about what is expected of me, because I have to concentrate on what I have to do”, explains the winner of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this year.

“I like to focus more on the process of trying to achieve big things rather than thinking about the big things first and then the process.”

Aligned alongside Sebastian Vettel then Carlos Sainz at Ferrari, Leclerc made it clear that he preferred to have a strong teammate.

Instead of thinking that I would like to have a number two driver as a teammate, I always thought that it is so much better to have the best as a teammate. I had very, very fast teammates who made me progress and with Lewis I will also learn a lot.

Leclerc says Hamilton doesn’t need his advice

Even if Lewis Hamilton, finally winner this year in the era of ground effect single-seaters, experienced difficulties with the current generation of car, the Monegasque affirms that “Lewis is still incredibly fast. It’s still Lewis Hamilton. So I don’t think he needs any advice from me!”

A few months before finding themselves working together at Ferrari, Leclerc also indicated that he got along well with the driver with 105 victories in F1.

“It’s cool, we have a really good relationship and I’m sure it’ll stay like that.”
