Mercedes F1 goes green for Singapore

The Mercedes F1 team is celebrating 50 years of its iconic title sponsor Petronas with a special livery at the Singapore Grand Prix.

To mark Petronas’ 50th anniversary, Mercedes has decided to mark the occasion by modifying the appearance of its W15 single-seater for the Singapore Grand Prix.

This weekend, the famous Silver Arrows will sport a unique livery, showcasing the distinctive emerald green of their technical partner and main sponsor, Petronas.

A tribute to Petronas on its anniversary

The normally silver W15 will feature emerald green accents on the nose and sidepods, replacing the traditional silver sections. With Petronas’ home country of Malaysia being close to Singapore, this Grand Prix is a perfect opportunity to celebrate this milestone.

Founded in 1974, Petronas is today one of the world’s leading energy companies, ranking among the Fortune Global 500. Its partnership with Mercedes is one of the longest and most successful in motorsport.

A historic partnership between Mercedes and Petronas

Since Mercedes returned to Formula 1 as a works team in 2010, Petronas has played a central role as title sponsor.

This collaboration has been a success, with eight constructors’ and seven drivers’ titles to their name, all achieved thanks to Petronas’ technology and products. Their fuels and lubricants have allowed Mercedes to excel and dominate the sport for many years.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff expressed his appreciation for the long relationship: “Petronas has been with us since the beginning. Our collaboration is based on a shared vision of innovation and performance, which has enabled us to achieve exceptional results over the years.”

The future of partnership and challenges ahead

Toto Wolff also highlighted the importance of this partnership for the future, especially with the new challenges that the sport is about to face. The introduction of sustainable fuels in 2026 will be a key milestone, and Petronas will play a central role in this ecological transition.

“We look forward to continuing to work together, with our sights set on ambitious goals such as the use of sustainable fuels in the near future. This special livery symbolises both Petronas’ 50th anniversary and the importance of our partnership in our shared success.”

With this green livery, Mercedes pays visual homage to Petronas and underlines the importance of this lasting collaboration that has marked the history of Formula 1.
