Laurens Sweeck (Crelan-Corendon) won the third round of the Telenet Super prestige contested on the Niel circuit, in Belgium. Author of a superb solo number, he escaped from the start of the race and no one saw him again, distinguishing himself in particular in the many very muddy sectors of the Niel circuit where the riders were forced to advance at foot. This is the second victory of the season for the Belgian cyclist, the day after his 6th place in the X²0 Bathrooms Trophy.
“It’s usually a good time of the season for me.”
After the race, he looked back on his performance: “At the beginning, though, I wasn't really putting any pressure on myself. I was just trying to find a good rhythm, get through the obstacles correctly and get into the flow. It actually worked quite quickly. I didn't start to doubt when it started to rain But we start to get tired, and then it also becomes treacherous A few mistakes crept in, but fortunately, it was only in the last lap. I think I did. good times in the sandbox. once, luck smiled on me too.”
This is not the first time that the team leader Crelan-Corendon crosses the finish line as winner in Niel. Four years ago, he had already won the Annual fair crossbut it does not explain this success on this circuit: “I don't really know. It's usually a good time of the season for me. Yesterday I really suffered. Today too, of course, but it still went better. I don't think so. “I didn't expect to lead from start to finish here. It's difficult to ride in a group on this course, but it's a bit unexpected.”he concludes.
