. The third edition of the Vélorution brought together 380 cyclists

This Saturday, October 12, the third edition of the Vélorution, organized by the association Innovation Véhicules Doux (In’VD), brought together no less than 380 cyclists in the streets of (there were 320 last year). This event, both festive and protesting, raised awareness of the importance of developing soft mobility and encouraging the creation of secure infrastructure for cyclists.

Participants, young and old, met at 9:45 a.m. at Place Emma Calvé for a 3-kilometer walk. Disguised and with decorated bicycles, the cyclists paraded in a friendly atmosphere through the streets of Millau. The route crossed emblematic places such as Boulevard Richard, Quai Sully Chaliès and Boulevard de l’Ayrolle, before returning to the starting point.

A double anniversary celebrated

This edition of the Vélorution was an opportunity to remember a double anniversary: that of the 150 years of the Millau station and that of the 30 years of the “Gorges du Tarn greenway” project, linking Millau to Rozier via Aguessac. However, this greenway project is currently blocked by the SNCF, as explained by officials of the In’VD association. A petition, which has already collected 800 signatures, has been set up to put pressure on the railway company in order to resolve this situation.

Yannick Doulsrepresentative of the Community of Communes Millau Grands Causses, however brought encouraging news by declaring that the discussions with the SNCF “ move forward ”, although nothing has yet materialized. He also promised that the Millau-Aguessac portion of the greenway would be inaugurated in 2026.

For his part, Séverine Peyretout underlined the constant support of the Parc des Grands Causses to the In’VD association since the launch of this project.
