To stem the spread of coronavirus, the Cameroonian government has announced measures to protect the country from a resurgence of cases. In the United States, health authorities are preparing to launch a vaccination campaign in the fall.

Cases of COVID-19 have been reported in some countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

In Cameroon, travelers from foreign countries will have to systematically fill out identification forms at airports. They will also have to undergo COVID-19 screening tests. These measures target, as a priority, travelers returning from the pilgrimage to Mecca.

In case of flu symptoms, wearing a mask and hand hygiene will be required. The Cameroonian government says it has the necessary capacity to detect cases.

In the United States, the virus is circulating. As new cases of COVID-19 appear in some regions, health authorities are preparing to launch a vaccination campaign in the fall.

Officials acknowledged that the need for vaccinations was not as urgent as it was a few years ago. Most Americans have some degree of immunity to infection.

Last month, the number of deaths and hospitalizations from COVID-19 hit their lowest levels since the pandemic hit the United States in 2020.

But immunity decreases. New variants of the virus are emerging and hundreds of deaths and thousands of hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 are still being reported every week.

Health facilities have told Americans to expect an annual update of COVID-19 vaccines, just as they are recommended to get vaccinated every year to protect against the flu.
