This Thursday, June 20, from 6:30 p.m., Bergerac painter Roxane Duraffourg will exhibit at the Elizerman photographic workshop, rue des mobiles. His characters and paintings can be discovered for one evening only.

Temporary tenants have set up at 5 rue des Mobiles, at the Elizerman photographic workshop. It is in this former garage that for one evening, this Thursday June 20 from 6:30 p.m., the paintings of Roxane Duraffourg will be exhibited. Hanging on the walls are as many large-format paintings as smaller works mixing materials and artistic genres.

Born in Bergeracois into a family of artists (both parents and brother), Roxane Duraffourg explains that she has succeeded in asserting her style for 5 years. “For this we had to rebuild everything and relearn,” emphasizes the woman who has a master’s degree in art history but has never attended art school. “I wasn’t locked up. » Today, the painter has made figurative art her favorite field and claims to be inspired by painting from the end of the 19th century. “My themes: Strong female characters, contrast and a naturalistic side. »

The message above all

If she swears by aesthetics, the stories she tells through her paintings prevail over the rest. To promote the weight of her messages, which she never fully explains, the Bergeracoise works to purify her works. Thus her characteristic feminine face is neutral, the silhouette of her character is sometimes androgynous, the backgrounds are mixtures of plain shapes in cold shades. “I am looking for neutrality. »

In addition to her paintings, the Bergeracoise will exhibit figurative “oddities” in the capital of Périgord. Include small formats that can be drawings, plastic works based on beer caps or a series of glued details from your own creations. “The paintings are born in my sleep, are first painted and reworked in my mind before appearing on canvas. This is a real expulsion which is often followed by a phase of blues. Then inspiration returns and the cycle continues. »

Those who cannot go to rue des Mobiles for the flash exhibition will be able to discover the work of Roxane Duraffourg at the presbytery of Saint-Avit-Sénieur from August 6 to 18.
