This is a new revelation made by American journalism legend Bob Woodward. The man who revealed the Watergate scandal and brought down President Nixon with his colleague Carl Bernstein in 1974, this time attacked Donald Trump as reported by TV5 Monde. In his new work to be published soon, he denounces the relations between the former president and Vladimir Putin. According to Woodward, Trump would have in fact secretly sent Covid-19 screening tests to his Russian counterpart in 2020, when the United States lacked them.
In his new book “War”which will be published on October 15, the American media learned that President Trump would have maintained a personal relationship with Putin despite the Russian invasion in Ukraine and while he already had ambitions to return to the White House. “I don’t want you to tell anyone, people will be angry with you, not me.”the Russian president allegedly told him about the delivery of the tests.
A scandal in the middle of the presidential campaign
In all, Vladimir Putin and Trump have spoken up to seven times since Trump’s 2020 re-election defeat, according to an adviser who requested anonymity. Vice-president and candidate Kamala Harris was quick to react: “Everyone in America was struggling to get kits…and this guy is sending them to Russia, to a murderous dictator, for his own use?”
On the Republican side, Woodward’s theses are formally denied. For Steven Cheung, Trump spokesperson: “None of these fabricated stories by Bob Woodward are true, this is the work of a truly insane and unbalanced man”he protested.
