There were people there to welcome the general secretary of the CGT, Sophie Binet, at 4 p.m. in front of the Jacques-Monod hospital in Montivilliers near Le Havre, this Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The nursing staff of course, and in particular those in emergencies on strike since mid-July.
“I came to support them”
From the outset, Sophie Binet indicated: “What is happening here in Le Havre is happening at the national level. There have been even more bed closures since the Covid crisis. An average of 5,000 beds are closed each year in our health system. It’s extremely serious. And I came to give my support and that of the entire CGT. »
“Once we lose them, what will we do? »
“All the hospital staff are exhausted. We applauded them during Covid, we even called them heroes. Emmanuel Macron was committed to making health a big priority and we are seeing the result today. »
And to ask the question afterwards.
We see that caregivers are exhausted, that they are forced to resign and for some to go to work in the private sector or in the liberal sector. Once we lose them, what will we do?
This level of professionalism that France has in terms of health, “we must fight now that the PLFSS (social security financing bill is being discussed in the national assembly)”.
