A new wave of COVID-19 has been feared in the Rhône in recent weeks. The cases are started to rise again as temperatures drop.

According to Santé Publique France, which published a report on September 25, the observation is clear: “all the indicators, all ages combined, are increasing in the city and in the hospital.

An increase driven by adults, and more particularly those aged 65 and over.

The numbers

In detail, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Health Agency indicates to news Lyon that the number of cases in the region, as of September 24, was 63 visits to the emergency room per day.

To this, we must also add the 64 medical procedures SOS Médecins for suspicion of the disease.

Regarding the hospitalizationsthere were 24 among the visits to the emergency room for suspected COVID-19 in the departments of Rhône, Ardèche, Ain, Drôme, and Loire.

And as is often the case, it is the Rhône which is in front, with four patients in hospital at the last count across the department’s establishments.

Note also that the analysis of wastewater reveals a increase of 36.3% cases, this time at the national level.

Barrier gestures, always

Santé Publique France recalls in its bulletin that “the adoption of barrier gestures remains an effective means of protecting oneself from a respiratory infection and its complications and limiting the risk of transmission to those around them and particularly to vulnerable people”.

It is therefore recommended to continue to wear a mask in case of symptoms, while washing your hands regularly.

It remains to be seen whether these actions repeated over the past few years will be sufficient to prevent new forms of coronavirus, and in particular SARS-CoV-2.

According to health authorities, the intensification of the circulation of this form of the disease “seems to be starting”. Its development “will need to be monitored vigilantly over the coming weeks”.
