A drug trafficker was sentenced by the Assize Court of Seine-et-Marne, Friday September 27, 2024. In 2021, he shot a man at point blank range in the streets of Mée-sur-Seine, reports The Republic of Seine-et-Marne .
The shooter, aged 29, acted in front of around a hundred witnesses. The latter took the opportunity to get some fresh air before the curfew imposed during the Covid-19 epidemic.
After shooting the victim in the stomach, the accused fled in his car. He was finally arrested in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) in July of the same year.
114 days of hospitalization for the victim
After the incident, the victim, aged 49, was transported to Melun hospital in very critical condition. In total, the forty-year-old spent 114 days in hospital and survived 17 operations.
During the trial, it was revealed that the two men had a dispute over the victim’s nephew. The latter allegedly stole money and drugs from the accused.
During the hearing, the accused apologized to the victim. He specified that he had acted out of fear of being attacked by his thief’s uncles, which did not convince the Assize Court.
He was ultimately sentenced to thirteen years in prison. His lawyer has already expressed his desire to appeal this decision.
